What size is your dog?

As I sit here staring at a blank computer screen, it truly amazes me how the younger generation finds something to post on a daily basis. I guess maybe with age the imagination goes awry.

Then the thought of Gideon comes to me out of nowhere. For those of you that don't know the story, the Israelites were oppressed for a time by the Midianites. They would come in and camp on their lands and ravage their crops and kill their livestock. The Israelites finally resorted to living in caves in the hills to hide from their oppressors.

One day, while Gideon was threshing wheat in secret so as to feed his family, the angel of the Lord came to him and said "The Lord is with you, mighty warrior". Gideon kind of looked around and said "Who, you talking to me? My clan is the weakest of all of the tribes and I'm the least of my clan. I'm here, hiding in a cave. I'm not a mighty warrior." The angel said "Go in thy strength and the Lord will defeat the Midianites by your hand." Again, Gideon said "Who, me? You're kidding, Right?"

Long story short is that after requesting, and receiving, a few signs that it was truly God's intention for him to fight, he did indeed whip the tens of thousands of Midianites with only three hundred men.

Moral of the story is no matter how small we feel, all things are possible when God is on your side. Or, to put it in layman's terms, It's not the size of the dog in the fight that matters but what does matter is the size of the fight in the dog.

Amen, amen! I was actually talking today to a friend whose mother has cancer we were discussing how hard her mother has fought (she's had somewhere around eight recurrences in a twenty year span and is going through another one). She's a tiny gal, but her spirit is what gets her through
